Sizing questions
What size heat pump do I need?
As a rough Auckland guide: a well-insulated modern room needs about 110 watts per square metre, an average 80s–90s home about 130 W/m², and an older uninsulated home about 155 W/m². High ceilings and lots of sun add to that. Our calculator does this maths for you — and we confirm the exact sizing with a free on-site assessment before you buy anything.
What happens if a heat pump is undersized?
An undersized unit runs flat out, struggles to reach temperature on cold nights, costs more to run, and wears out faster. Slight oversizing is far better than undersizing.
Is this calculator result a quote?
No — it's a rough sizing guide to point you at the right capacity class. Final sizing depends on insulation, glazing, ceiling height and layout, which we confirm with a free on-site assessment and fixed quote.
