Heat pump installation in Auckland
Supply and install from $1,745. Sized properly for the room, installed tidy, and a fixed price in writing before we start.
What you get for the price
A supplied-and-installed high wall heat pump starts at $1,745. That covers the unit, the mounting brackets, the pipework, the electrical connection, commissioning and testing, and taking the rubbish away with us. The electrical side is carried out and certified by a registered electrician, so the paperwork is right and your warranty stands.
What moves the price up is honest, physical stuff: a bigger unit for a bigger room, a long pipe run between the indoor and outdoor units, an outdoor unit that needs a bracket on a second storey, or scaffolding where we can’t safely work off a ladder. We look at all of that on site and give you one fixed number before anything starts.
Getting the size right
This is the part most people get wrong, and it’s the part that decides whether you’re happy in three years. Undersize the unit and it runs flat out on the coldest morning of the year and never quite gets there. Oversize it and you’ve paid more up front for a unit that short-cycles and doesn’t dehumidify properly.
Room volume, insulation, how much glass you have and which way the room faces all matter. We size it on site, but you can get a rough idea first with our heat pump size calculator.
Which brand
We install Panasonic, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Midea. There isn’t one right answer — there’s a right answer for your room and your budget, and we’ll tell you which is which rather than pushing whatever we’ve got in the van. If you want to read up first, here’s our honest take on the best heat pump brands in NZ and current heat pump prices.
How the job runs
We come out and look at the space, talk through where the units go, and leave you with a fixed written quote. When you’re ready, a standard back-to-back install takes about half a day. We drop sheets down, drill the wall, run and pressure-test the pipework, vacuum the system, connect the power, commission it and then show you how to actually use the controller — because most people never get shown, and end up running it on the wrong mode all winter.
More than one room
If you’re heating bedrooms as well as the living area, you’ve got two options: separate high wall units, or one ducted system running the whole house. We’ve written up the trade-offs in ducted vs multiple heat pumps, and we install both — see ducted air conditioning for what that involves.
Rentals and Healthy Homes
We work with landlords and property managers across Auckland. That includes living room heating assessments, correctly sized compliant units, and dealing with the tenant directly so you’re not chasing access. See Healthy Homes heating requirements for what the standard actually asks for.

Heat pump installation questions
How much does heat pump installation cost in Auckland?
A straightforward high wall heat pump supplied and installed starts from around $1,745. The final price depends on the size of unit your room needs, how far the indoor and outdoor units sit apart, and whether the install needs scaffolding or extra pipework. You get a fixed price in writing before any work starts.
How long does a heat pump installation take?
A standard back-to-back high wall install usually takes half a day. Longer pipe runs, multi-room systems and ducted systems take longer, and we’ll tell you what to expect when we quote.
What size heat pump do I need?
It depends on room volume, insulation, glazing and which way the room faces. Undersizing means the unit runs flat out and never quite gets there; oversizing wastes money and cycles badly. We size it on site, and you can get a rough idea first with our size calculator.
Which heat pump brands do you install?
Panasonic, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Midea. We recommend based on the room and your budget rather than pushing one brand, and every unit is installed to the manufacturer specification so the warranty stands.
Do I need a building consent for a heat pump?
For a standard residential heat pump install, no. We take care of the compliance side of the work, and the electrical connection is carried out and certified by a registered electrician.
Do you install heat pumps in rental properties?
Yes. We work with landlords and property managers across Auckland, including Healthy Homes living room heating assessments and correctly sized compliant units, with tenant liaison handled by us.
