Will it work with your system?
New ducted installs
Easiest path. We plan the zones as part of the ductwork design, so damper positions, duct sizing and sensor locations are right from the start rather than retrofitted around what already exists. If you’re getting a ducted system quoted, ask us to price it both ways.
Retrofit to an existing system
Often yes. AirTouch works with ducted systems from most major brands — Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu among them — but compatibility depends on your exact indoor unit and what zoning hardware is already in the ceiling. We check your model and inspect the existing setup before quoting. If yours isn’t compatible, we’ll say so rather than sell you something that half works.

Zoning done properly, not just plugged in
A zoning controller is only as good as the ductwork and commissioning behind it.
1. Free on-site assessment. We look at your ceiling or underfloor space, your existing system if you have one, your layout, and how the house is actually used. Then we work out sensible zones with you — that’s a conversation about your household, not a formula.
2. Compatibility check and fixed quote. We confirm AirTouch works with your specific indoor unit before anything is ordered, then give you a fixed written price covering the console, sensors, dampers and commissioning.
3. Install and airflow balancing. Dampers, sensors, cabling and console. Then we balance the airflow across the zones and commission the system — this is the step that gets skipped, and it’s the one that decides whether zoning actually works.
4. Setup and handover. We set up your zones, schedules and app before we leave, and walk you through it properly. If you want AirTouch Home or Secure added later, the groundwork is already there.

Can AirTouch 5 be retrofitted to a ducted system I already have?
Usually, yes. It depends on your indoor unit brand and model, and on what zoning hardware is already installed. AirTouch works with ducted systems from most major brands including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu. We check your exact model and inspect the ceiling space before quoting, so you get a straight yes or no rather than a surprise on installation day.
How is this different from the zoning my ducted system already has?
Most standard ducted zoning is on/off airflow control — it opens or closes a damper to an area, but the temperature is still measured in one place for the whole house. AirTouch puts a sensor in each zone and modulates the airflow to hold a target temperature in that specific room. In practice that's the difference between "some air goes to the bedrooms" and "the bedrooms sit at 18 degrees".
How many zones do I need?
AirTouch 5 handles up to 16, but most Auckland homes sit between four and eight. A common setup is living areas, kitchen and dining, master bedroom, and the other bedrooms grouped together. More zones means more control but also more dampers and more cost, so we work through what's actually worth zoning separately in your home rather than maximising the number.
Will zoning really cut my power bill?
It should, because you stop conditioning rooms nobody is in. What does AirTouch zoning cost in Auckland?
It's priced per home, because it depends on the number of zones, how many motorised dampers are needed, whether it's going into a new system or retrofitted to an existing one, and how accessible your ceiling space is. We quote a fixed price after a free on-site assessment. If you're already getting a ducted system quoted from us, we can price it with and without zoning so you can compare properly.
Do I need AirTouch Home and AirTouch Secure as well?
No. AirTouch 5 works on its own as a zoning and climate controller, and that's what most people start with. AirTouch Home is a free software upgrade that adds smart home control if you want it, and AirTouch Secure is optional hardware on top of that. You can add either later without redoing the zoning work.
Is AirTouch Secure a replacement for a monitored alarm?
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. AirTouch describe it as an awareness tool rather than a monitored security system or life-safety device. It sends alerts to your phone, but nobody is watching it on your behalf, and it relies on your Wi-Fi, power and internet connection. If you want monitored security, install a monitored alarm. AirTouch Secure sits alongside that quite happily.
Does it work with voice assistants?
Yes, once AirTouch Home is installed. It works with Google Assistant, Apple Home and Siri, and Amazon Alexa. You'll need an active Wi-Fi connection and the system set up on your home network, which we handle at handover.
Do you service AirTouch systems as well as install them?
Yes. We service and repair ducted systems across Auckland, including zoned ones. If your zoning has never worked properly since it was installed, that's usually an airflow balancing or commissioning problem rather than a faulty controller, and it's normally fixable.
